Heather James, LMBT #10296 (she/her) began clinical practice in 2010 after graduating from Wake Tech's therapeutic massage program. She went on to earn her Biology Pre-Med degree from NCCU. In addition, Heather attended osteopathic medical school for two years.

In her spare time, Heather enjoys spending it with her family, doing yardwork, attending local comedy shows, reading, learning, and caring for her menagerie of pets.

Heather intimately knows the struggles of those in healthcare and is well suited to provide care and healing touch to other providers. In her personal practice, she loves working with other massage therapists, chiropractors, physicians, nurses, dentists, and physical therapists. She is also trained to assist those with chronic pain, TMJ, headaches/migraines, frozen shoulder, scar tissue, plantar fasciitis, lymphedema, autoimmune conditions, and other disease processes. She especially enjoys working with cosmetic surgery patients and those receiving gender affirming care with her specialized lymphatic drainage massage to assist with healing, decrease swelling, and prevent fibrosis.

She was inspired to start her own medical massage school when graduates of other programs contacted her for MBLEx test prep and hands-on help after not feeling quite ready. She realized there was an opening for a rigorous program to address these needs. Her goal is to pass on what she’s learned herself over the past 20 yrs in a much more concise way. She’s also had years of experience as a massage instructor and tutor in various other settings and is ready to put it to great use at MMI.
